Greer
Located high in the White Mountains at an elevation of more than 8,500 feet, Greer, Arizona is surrounded by forest and mountains and has the Little Colorado River running right through the town. Renowned for its lodges, campgrounds, lakes and restaurants, the town is also home to Molly Butler Lodge, the oldest lodge in Arizona.

Greer Attractions
Come to Greer for its beauty, streams, lakes, fishing, trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, boating, bird watching, skiing and more. The second highest mountain in Arizona is only a few miles from Greer and offers one of the most beautiful hiking and backpacking opportunities in the West. Not an active adventurer? Sit on the deck of a lodge or cabin and watch the elk, deer, birds and other animals just wandering by, or visit the Butterfly Lodge Museum - built in 1913 by famous writer James Willard Schultz and his artist son Lone Wolf.
Greer is also home to the Sunrise Ski Resort which features three mountains and 65 runs for skiers of any level. There is also a separate snowboarding area, cross country ski trails and a special childrens's "ski-wee" area.
Greer History & Culture
The Willard Lee family arrived in Greer in 1879 and named it Lee Valley. In 1898, when a post office was established, the name was changed to Greer in honor of a leading citizen, Americus Vespucius Greer.
