Tohono O'odham Craft Fair
Kitt Peak Visitor Center
Kitt Peak National Observatory Visitor Center announces plans to hold a Tohono O’odham Craft Fair, open to the public, Saturday, October 19, 2013. This one day, first annual special event, featuring more than 43 artisans’ works, is scheduled outdoors on Kitt Peak, from 10am-3pm.
Since its opening in 1964, the Kitt Peak Visitor Center has spent over 2 million dollars in purchasing crafts from Tohono O’odham artists. Today, the Kitt Peak Visitor Center continues this tradition, offering fine Tohono O’odham crafts to its visitors.
In an effort to promote artists on the nation and the crafts that are unique to the Tohono O’odham people, the Kitt Peak Visitor Center is holding an annual Craft Fair where artists can sell directly to the public. Basketry, pottery, jewelry, paintings and other crafts unique to the Tohono O’odham people will be priced for sale.
