Surprise Fine Art & Wine Festival

February 1 through February 3
Surprise Recreation Center
Surprise

Thunderbird Artists, leading producer of award-winning fine art & wine festivals is going out west! West of Phoenix Metropolitan Valley,.…to the City of Surprise. The City of Surprise and Thunderbird
Artists are partnering for the Surprise Fine Art & Wine Festival, February 1, 2 & 3, 2013 and look forward to building this to be an annual event.

Juried artists travel from around the country and state of Arizona. There will be an excess of 2,500+ pieces of art displayed in mediums such as oil on canvas, watercolors, acrylics and mixed media paintings. Furthermore, an extensive selection of unique jewelry, photography and pottery, as well as bronze, copper, clay, glass, metal and wood sculptures will be exhibited.
Patrons will have the opportunity to meet and converse with the artists during all three days of the event.

The charity hosting the wine tasting event is the Surprise SunDancers receiving 25% of gross wine ticket sales. The Surprise Sundancers, founded in 2002, are the official Spring Training volunteer
organization of the Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers and the City of Surprise. The Sundancers are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that currently consists of over 750 members! The Sundancers also provide volunteer services at the Surprise Recreation Campus. As a non-profit
volunteer organization, the Surprise Sundancers raise charitable donations and receive contributions to support greater Surprise and Northwest Valley youthrelated programs and projects, including the award winning DreamCatcher Park. This celebration highlights an extensive collection of fine wines – both domestic and imported. Learning how to taste wines is an uncomplicated experience that will enhance the appreciation for both wines and winemakers. Starting with the basic senses (look, smell & taste) the expansive wine list allows patrons the opportunity to learn how to taste wines like the pros! Patrons can smell numerous unique scents, but their taste perception is limited to salty, sweet, sour and bitter. It is the combination of smell with tasting that allows patrons to distinguish between the different flavors. Sampling a good collection of wines all at the same time permits patrons the opportunity to make better choices. For $10, patrons receive an engraved souvenir wine glass, six wine tasting tickets. Bob from Oh, Fudge will be busy making fudge throughout the festival for the patrons that like watching the art of creating fudge.

Strolling throughout the supreme gathering of artists, sampling great wines and listening to musical entertainment is what Thunderbird Artists is best recognized for along with their fine reputation. We are excited to bring a unique experience of quality fine art to the West Valley and the rapidly growing community of Surprise,” said Denise Dale, Vice President of Thunderbird Artists. For more information, check out the Thunderbird Artists website – ThunderbirdArtists.com.

Admission into the festival is $3.00 per person. American Healing Arts Foundation (AHAF) is the
hosting charity at the gates receiving 25% of gate sales. AHAF is about healing through the arts and
art therapy offering veterans free art classes and art therapy. Post-traumatic stress disorder remains
high for both wounded and uninjured soldiers-plus the suicide and divorce rate continues to soar. Art
is proven to be a great form of therapy for victims. AHAF classes are intended to reunite veterans with their fellow vets, away from hospitals and the battlefield, in a peaceful environment.
