Mexican Folk Art Show & Sale
Rugs, Pottery & Oaxacan sculpture
Friday – Sunday | March 8 – 10 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Ed. Center
The Mexican Folk Art Show and Sale is a celebration of the color and vitality of Mexican folk arts. Familiar yet fantastical, brightly painted Oaxacan creature sculptures, called “alebriji”, will be on display in the hundreds. From the village of Mata Ortiz in Chihuahua Mexico comes exquisite hand-formed and hand-painted decorative pottery. Also featured will be a bonanza of Zapotec Wool rugs, sporting both traditional and contemporary designs. These rugs are created on hand-operated looms from wool obtained from local sheep, and pigmented with natural, indigenous dyes. Simply put, the Mexican Folk Art Show and Sale is a treat for the eye, hand, and heart. Free admission during the sale. www.tohonochulpark.org/
