An evening of delicious food and extraordinary live performance celebrating Arcosanti and architect Paolo Soleri’s Italian heritage
Join us at Arcosanti on Saturday, July 20th for our annual Italian Night, a lively evening of outdoor food and entertainment for the whole family!
5 pm: Come early for an after-hours guided tour of Arcosanti! (Optional)
6 pm: Enjoy a festive 5-course Italian dinner served al fresco in the iconic Arcosanti Vaults! (Wine & beer available for purchase)
7:30 pm: Experience a multimedia musical and theatrical performance in the Colly Soleri Amphitheater from soprano Jayne Casselman, pianist Lynne Haeseler, percussionist and composer Owen Davis, tenor Chris Eubank and graphic/projection artist Nathan Greene, with texts from Paolo Soleri; excerpts from the works of Goldoni, Pirandello, Scarlatti, and others; Gregorian chant, Italian opera, and Venetian masks; and social satire as well as improvisational instrumental work. (Appropriate for all ages)
In the words of Paolo Soleri: “Performance is to creation as structure is to form…Arcosanti’s structure is a large instrument for investigation and performance in the multimedia field that will take constant and attentive stock of the originating elements of nature. Spectators will be pulled in by the unpredictability, the magnitude, the power of images, sounds, structures…a unified creative process. The audience will become part of the performance.”
