Arivaca, Arizona  Film Festival Returns
March 1-2, 2013

The Arivaca Independent Filmmaker’s Exhibition resumes after a one-year hiatus, on Friday and Saturday March 1-2, 2013  at the Arivaca Community Center, 16012 Universal Ranch Road. The event is free and open to the public.
Initiated and organized by filmmaker and Arivaca resident Bart Santello, the event is a showcase for films and digital media that embody the artistic spirit of independent filmmakers. Friday night features work by and about Arivacans, including profiles of two local artists by Karl Hoffman, a documentary about a community art project in the 1980’s by Tamara Scott Anderson, and two films by Kevin Anderson.
Saturday’s program includes The Justice Boat by Arne Birkenstock about a journey up the Amazon River that brings services to people who live in remote villages; a one minute film teaser for Wastelander, a science fiction film directed by Tucsonan Angelo Lopes; Mzungu, about Bart Santello’s experiences in South Africa in 2006; as well as numerous other productions by Tucsonans and other filmmakers.
