24th ANNUAL COWBOY CHRISTMAS POETRY GATHERING –DEC. 7-8, 2012
Cowboy poets, singers and musicians from across the Southwest will meet in Wickenburg for the 24th Annual Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering.  Featured cowboy poets/entertainers include: Mary Kaye, Matt Robertson, Cory Padilla, Chris Isaacs, Sally Bates, Tom Hiatt & the Sundown Riders who will mingle with guests at a Friday Night Reception at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Wickenburg Community Center.

The gathering is not a contest – there are no prizes and no winners, rather it is a place and time when cowboys, ranchers and folks involved in raising and caring for cattle and horses get together to celebrate the present in poetry, songs and story, just as they did 150 years ago.

The Cowboy Poets Reception on Friday, December 7th and includes beer/wine and appetizers at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, located at 21 North Frontier Street.
Limited tickets are available for the reception @$10 per person advance/ $15 at the door.  The featured cowboy poet’s performance is scheduled on Saturday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Wickenburg Community Center, 160 N. Valentine Street.  Admission: $15 advance tickets - $25 at the door.

Most of the action will take place on Saturday starting with a cowboy Dutch-oven biscuits n’ gravy and cowboy coffee from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. - $5 donation in the north side parking area of the Wickenburg Community Center, 160 N. Valentine Street in the historic district of downtown Wickenburg.   The Free Day Sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. – 12noon, and 1:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m., and include Sessions of storytelling, cowboy poetry readings and singin’ which are held every 50 minutes in the center.

Cowboy Christmas Gathering concludes on Sunday, December 9th with a non-denominational Cowboy Worship Service at 9:00 a.m., held inside the Wickenburg Community Center.  Check out the Desert Caballeros Western Museum exhibits on Sunday, open to the public from 12 Noon – 4:00 p.m.  Admission required.
